The short answer
Pierce RV has the Winnebago Access travel trailer for sale at both Montana stores, Billings and Great Falls. We carry six floor plans: the 15BH, 15RB, 16BH, 18RK, 18DBH and 25RK. Five of the six are single or tandem axle trailers between 21 and 22 feet 6 inches, all under 3,900 pounds dry, which puts them inside the capability of a half ton pickup and a lot of mid size SUVs. The 25RK is the big one at 29 feet with a slide. Every Access has a fully enclosed and heated underbelly, a 30,000 BTU furnace and Winnebago's Tuff-Coat metal exterior. Prices on our lot generally run from about $20,000 to the low thirties, and Montana charges no general statewide sales tax. Call Billings on 406-655-8000 or Great Falls on 406-761-3520, or browse every Access we have in stock.

Winnebago builds the Access in more layouts than this. The six below are the ones we actually keep for sale on the ground in Montana, because they are the ones that sell here. Five are short and light enough for a half ton, and the sixth gives you a slide and a proper rear kitchen when you want the room.
| Floor plan | Length | Dry weight | Sleeps | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15BH | 21 ft 3 in | 3,496 lb | 5 | Rear double bunks, front queen, single axle. Lightest family plan. |
| 15RB | 21 ft 3 in | 3,516 lb | 3 | Rear bath, front queen, no slide. The couples plan. |
| 16BH | 21 ft 2 in | 3,772 lb | 6 | Bunks plus a convertible dinette. Most beds under 22 ft. |
| 18RK | 22 ft 6 in | 3,900 lb | 4 | Rear kitchen. Big galley, easy to park, no slide. |
| 18DBH | 22 ft 0 in | 3,850 lb | 8 | Double over double bunks. Eight berths in 22 ft. |
| 25RK | 29 ft 0 in | 6,558 lb | 4 | Rear kitchen with a slide. The roomiest Access here. |
All three sit at roughly 21 feet and between 3,496 and 3,772 pounds dry. They are the easiest Access trailers to tow, store and park, and they are what most first time buyers here end up with. The 15RB is the couples layout with a rear bath. The 15BH and 16BH both put bunks in the back, and the 16BH squeezes six berths into 21 feet 2 inches by converting the dinette, which is the most beds per foot on our lot.
Around 22 feet and under 3,900 pounds, so they tow like the short plans but give you meaningfully more room. The 18RK puts a full kitchen across the back wall, which is the layout to pick if you actually cook. The 18DBH does something unusual for its size and fits double over double bunks, so it sleeps eight in 22 feet. If you have three or four kids and a half ton, that is the one to look at first.
Twenty nine feet, 6,558 pounds dry, one slide and a rear kitchen. This is a different class of trailer to the other five and it needs a different truck. What you get is a living area you can move around in with the slide out and storage that does not run out on a two week trip. It is the Access for people who camp in one spot for a week at a time rather than moving every night.
Floor plan availability moves through the season and the bunk plans go first in spring. Check live Access inventory or call and we will hold one for you.
The Access is the value line, so it is worth being specific about what is actually standard rather than talking in generalities. These are the things that matter on a trailer used in this state.
A fully enclosed underbelly with radiant foil insulation, heated pass through storage and a 30,000 BTU furnace. That combination is what keeps your tanks and lines from freezing on a cold night in September or late October, and it is not standard on every trailer at this price. It is the single biggest reason we recommend the Access over cheaper competitors for Montana buyers.
Full overlay European style cabinetry, carpetless slideouts on the 25RK, roller shades, a 10 cubic foot 12 volt refrigerator, a recessed three burner cooktop, a 1.1 cubic foot microwave and a 30 by 36 inch shower with a large skylight. Tandem axle plans add a tankless water heater so you are not waiting on a tank to reheat, and a 60 gallon fresh water tank.
Worth knowing. Winnebago changes standard equipment every model year and some items vary by floor plan. Ask us to pull the build sheet for the exact unit you are looking at rather than working from a brochure or from this page. We will print it for you.
This is the part that decides whether the trailer you like is the trailer you can buy, and it is worth getting right before you fall for a floor plan.
Dry weight is not what you tow. Dry weight is the trailer as it leaves the factory with no water, propane, batteries, cargo or dealer installed options. Loaded for a real trip it is commonly 1,000 to 1,500 pounds heavier. Match your vehicle to the loaded number and the loaded tongue weight, not the figure on the spec sheet.
| Floor plans | Dry weight | Realistic loaded | What pulls it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15BH, 15RB, 16BH | 3,496 to 3,772 lb | 4,500 to 5,000 lb | Any half ton. Many mid size SUVs and trucks once you check payload. |
| 18RK, 18DBH | 3,850 to 3,900 lb | 4,900 to 5,400 lb | Any half ton comfortably. Mid size SUVs are borderline, check payload carefully. |
| 25RK | 6,558 lb | 7,800 to 8,500 lb | A well specced half ton at minimum. Three quarter ton if you load it or tow in the mountains. |
The number that fails first is almost never towing capacity. It is payload, printed on the yellow sticker inside your driver door jamb. Tongue weight, every passenger, the hitch hardware and everything in the bed all come out of that figure. Bring your vehicle when you visit and we will pull the sticker, work out your real remaining payload with your family and gear accounted for, and tell you straight if the plan you want is too much for it. We would rather sell you the 18RK than sell you a problem.
We also fit and adjust weight distribution hitches and sway control at both stores, with the trailer loaded rather than empty. That is not an upsell, it is the difference between a trailer that tracks behind you on I-90 and one that fights you the whole way. Book it through parts and service.
Our Access inventory generally runs from around $20,000 for a single axle plan up to the low thirties for the 25RK. Discounts on this line are large and routine, commonly $6,000 to $14,000 off MSRP, which tells you something useful: sticker MSRP on travel trailers is close to meaningless. Ignore the crossed out number entirely and compare the actual selling price between dealers.
Montana does not charge a general statewide sales tax. For a Montana resident buying and registering here, that removes a line item worth thousands in most other states. Registration and titling go through your county treasurer, so confirm your own fees with them. If you live out of state you will generally owe sales or use tax when you register at home no matter where you bought it. We handle out of state paperwork properly, and we do not set up or advise on Montana LLC arrangements. Talk to your own accountant about that.
We finance through a panel of national RV lenders with terms up to 20 years depending on amount and unit age, and approvals often come back the same day. On a first trailer it is worth rolling the hitch, sway control, a service agreement and insurance into the one payment, because the gear adds up faster than people expect. Start a secure credit application whenever you are ready, or get a number on your current rig through trade in value.

The difference between the 16BH and the 18DBH is obvious in about thirty seconds standing in them, and almost impossible to judge from photographs. Both stores keep Access units open and ready to walk through.
We stock three Winnebago travel trailer families and they are aimed at genuinely different buyers. Here is the honest split.

Montana is hard on trailers. Hundred degree afternoons on the Hi-Line, twenty below in January, wind on I-90 that shoves a tall trailer around, and county gravel that finds every weak fastener. The Access holds up better than most at its price, but where you camp should still shape which plan you buy.
| Where you are going | What matters | Best plan here |
|---|---|---|
| Glacier area campgrounds | Short pads, close trees, tight turns | 15RB, 15BH or 16BH |
| Yellowstone campgrounds | Most sites cap between 30 and 40 ft | Any, including the 25RK |
| Forest Service dispersed camping | Gravel, washboard, no hookups. Short and light wins. | 15BH, 15RB, 16BH |
| Elk camp, late October | Heated underbelly and furnace capacity, no hookups | Any Access, add a tank heater pad |
| Family trip with three or four kids | Berths, not square footage | 18DBH, sleeps 8 in 22 ft |
| A week parked at Fort Peck or Canyon Ferry | Living space and storage | 25RK with the slide |
People ask constantly, so plainly: you cannot take any travel trailer over it. The National Park Service limit is 21 feet for the whole combination including bumpers, and your tow vehicle plus even the shortest Access is well past that. Leave the trailer at a campground in Apgar or St. Mary and drive the Sun Road in your tow vehicle if it clears the limit on its own, or take the park shuttle. The alpine section is seasonal too, usually open from late June to around the third Monday of October. There is a diagram of the limit in our Winnebago Montana guide.
Three jobs matter more than everything else combined on a trailer like this. Annual roof and sealant inspection, because Montana sun and freeze thaw cycling destroy lap sealant. Brake, bearing and axle service every year, because gravel roads and long hauls make it a wear item here rather than an occasional one. And winterizing before the first hard freeze rather than after it. We do all three at both stores, whether or not you bought from us. Both locations also offer RV storage, which matters given HOA rules across Billings and Great Falls.
The Access trailers we have for sale are split across both stores and stock moves between them, so call ahead if there is a specific floor plan you want opened up and ready.
